Catwalk Clean-Up: Eastern Walkways

April 7, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Community Improvement Team (CIT) Fifth Annual Catwalk Cleanups Just Around the Corner

The CIT will hold its fifth annual catwalk cleanups on April 7th and May 5th from 9 am till noon, rain or shine.  The April 7th cleanup will include the four eastern walkways —Paseo los Papagayos, Colibris, Naranjas and Agaves. The cleanup for the four western walkways—Paseo las Palmas, Paseo los Pinos, Paseo los Coyotes and Paseo Halcon will be held on May 5th. Join us for the whole event or come for part of the time. Any time that you can spare will help us accomplish our work quickly.  Last year we finished up both cleanups within a couple of hours.

Here are the details:

April 7th: Meet at the Foot of Paseo los Papagayos near the intersection of Alamo and Toledo Drives

What to Bring:

Hand tools (clippers, trimmers, rakes brooms, dust pans), sun screen a hat and good walking shoes. We will also need volunteers with pickup trucks so that we can haul the cuttings to the greens bin donated by EDCO.  Drinking water will be provided.

Are you in?  Please contact Bob Scott at [email protected], 619.287.0557 or just show up. We’d love to have you join us.

Rolando Community Council

The RCC sponsors and promotes many neighborhood-friendly events. Join us for Rolando’s community activities and traditions!

RCC Community mtg

RCC Community Meetings

Once a month, RCC invites the community to meet together, exchange ideas, and hear from guest speakers about topics of local importance. This is a great opportunity to stay informed about our community and city goings-on, speak up if you have an idea, and meet neighbors of similar interests to get things done.

Community Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at the United Domestic Workers Hall, 4833 Seminole Drive. “Meet-n-greet” begins in the cafeteria at 6:00PM; the night’s agenda begins at 6:30PM and usually ends around 7:45PM. Unless issues of special significance arise there are no community meetings in July or August.

Night Out

Rolando Night Out

The Rolando Community Council sponsors a “get to know your neighbors” event called Rolando Night Out. We select a local dining establishment and ask neighbors to join us to share goings-on, the latest community news, and relax and catch up. Check our home page for the latest venue. Stay tuned for updates on this fun neighborhood event!

Summer Concert

Rolando Summer Concerts, Picnics, & Holiday Party Events

Over the years hundreds of neighbors have gathered together and enjoyed our summer concerts and Holiday Parties in December. Thank you to all who attended this month’s summer picnic and music jam! We hope next year is bigger and better and check back often to get the latest updates.

Boo Parade

BOO! Parade

There is only one annual Halloween parade in the San Diego and it happens right here in Rolando! The College Area Business Improvement District (BID) organizes the annual BOO! Parade on El Cajon Blvd. and RCC actively supports it. RCC helps support this fun event and also sponsors a float which neighbors help plan, build, and costume to bring some spooky cheer to one of San Diego’s most unique events. For more information about the parade, visit the BOO! site here!
